I started my journey in August 2020 and I had what I can only describe as a lightbulb moment. I was unhappy with my weight, my blood pressure was high and I felt every one of my 47 years.

I had already started Couch to 5K back in June, and although I was on track, I knew that diet was the most important factor. As the saying goes ‘you can’t outrun an unhealthy diet’. I did not calorie count or follow a low-fat diet; instead, I started making healthier choices, like including more fruits, vegetables and other yummy plant foods. For the first time ever, I did not feel like I was on a ‘diet’. It was a lifestyle change that I have maintained and loved.

As I steadily started to manage my weight, I decided to fully embark on a plant-based diet and aimed to eat 30+ plant points per week. This along with eating in a pattern that suited my lifestyle, running and weight training meant I eventually reached my happy weight! Not only this, but I have been able to maintain my weight for nearly two years, and I have never felt better!

Now, I enjoy eating an array of colourful, plant-based food, and I always hit my 30+ plant points a week. I am turning 50 this year and I am the healthiest and fittest I have ever been, I have buckets of energy and I no longer have high blood pressure. I feel great!
