The Neurofit Study: volunteers needed for exercise impact trial

Back

Sharing this one with you guys, as I think this is a really interesting area of research looking into exercise and the gut-brain axis.

Are you healthy, aged between 45-65 years old, with a BMI of 20-30 and without a regular exercise routine? Kings are recruiting volunteers to take part in a study that investigates the impact on hippocampus – dependent cognition (part of the brain associated with memory function) and the gut microbiota.

The purpose of the study is to determine if exercise has a positive impact on the generation of new neurons in the hippocampus, and how this affects the gut microbiota.

The participants will be randomly allocated to take part in a 12-week exercise intervention at Maudsley Hospital, London. The randomised control group will be asked to join weekly online socials and will be reimbursed £100 for their time on successful completion of the study.
